Junior Canaan Sommers from GlenOak High School was just elected as Canton Repository Runner of the Week in Cross Country. Canaan is a varsity runner and is currently leading the Eagles as their number 1 runner.

“The Stark County Cross Country representatives chose me as the best performer of the week in cross country.”
2. Were you surprised to win?
“I was surprised I won, knowing I didn’t have the best race.”
3. How did you find out you won?
“I found out that I won through my coach sending me a picture congratulating me on being nominated.”
4. What is your favorite thing about Cross Country?
“My favorite thing about cross country is the team bonding and how close you get with your teammates.”
5. What is your fastest time in Cross Country?
“My fastest time in cross country is 15:48.” (High school runners run a 5K every Saturday).
6. What is your further goal for the season?
“My goal for this season is to achieve All Ohio honors.”
7. Any advice to people trying to improve their times?
” If you want to improve the most, focus on every small thing you can control, such as what you eat, drink and how much sleep you get.”
