Hard work and determination got the Golden Eagle cheerleaders a coveted Regional Grand Champion title. This led them back to Dallas, Texas for the National Cheerleaders Association’s national competition.
On their road to nationals, the Eagles faced many roadblocks. Through conditioning and practice, they overcame any challenges to perform their best.
“To qualify for NCA Nationals we had to attend a camp over the summer and qualify at regionals in Pennsylvania. We were grand champions out of 31 teams,” said senior captain Anna McClure.
During the 2024 competition season, GlenOak cheer won the national title in the Novice Non-Building Varsity Crowd Leading. Led by head coach Alyssa West, the Golden Eagles returned to Dallas this past weekend, hoping to repeat their success from last year.
“Beyond PROUD of this amazing team. On and off the mat, our Eagles represented at the 2025 NCA Nationals,” head coach Alyssa West said.
Flying through the preliminary stage of the competition, the Eagles fell short during the Novice Non-Building Varsity Crowd Leading championship finals. With a performance score of 95.9148, the Eagles placed fourth in their division.
While in Dallas, the cheerleaders did more than practice routines. As a team, they went out to mini-golf for a team outing to bond. Additionally, the cheerleaders went out into the Dallas community to provide plates of food to the homeless community.
Juggling cheering for the basketball team and preparing for the national competition was daunting. The Eagles handled this strenuous season with conviction. While they fell short of another national title the hard work of the cheerleaders paid off; hitting zero (making no mistakes) at the Federal League competition, and many more accomplishments.
