Student’s share who inspires them

Many athletes have an inspiration. As we moved toward the end of the school year we asked students who their inspiration’s are.

“I would say my dad.  So growing up he was always around me helping me play basketball.
He’s the one who taught me the game first, introduced me to the game and as I’m getting older, he’s just still been there, just helping me get through the game and just keep getting better.
I feel like an inspiration helps you to work harder and try more and cause you wanna be like them. So I think it’s a great thing to have so you can improve.”

“My dad is my inspiration because my dad grew up in a very small town called Hicksville and he didn’t come from much and now he owns his own company. He inspires me because he always pushes me to be my best and he always believes in me when no one else does.
It’s important for everyone to have inspirations because if you don’t have an inspiration, then you have nothing to look up to and nothing to base your goals on.”

“My inspiration is my coach Scott Ferrell because he is just an amazing coach and just the way that he handles everything from coaching everybody individually, the relays and then talking to parents and just how much he has helped me as a person and as an athlete. He just has really been an inspiration in my life. I think it’s important for me to have an inspiration because it’s someone that you look up to and it’s someone that you strive to be better for yourself. I think having an inspiration is just something that really just speaks to a person, you know?

“I would say Sydney Harbour. She swims the same events as me and I care about that event a lot and having somebody that is close to me that is so good at the event makes it really easy to have someone to look up to. I think it’s important for everyone to have an inspiration because without having an inspiration, you’re kind of just swimming, and it kind of gives you a goal, like a reference for a goal for yourself, which makes you work harder.”
