Starting high school can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. Here are a few tips to help incoming freshmen navigate through freshman year at GlenOak High School smoothly.

First and foremost, try to be on time for school. This shows respect for teachers and helps to keep up with classwork. It also sets a good habit for the rest of your academic career. Be mindful that students will get more homework in high school than middle school.

When it comes to lunch, remember to avoid cutting the line. Everyone has to wait their turn, and cutting can lead to unnecessary conflicts. Just be patient, and everyone will get their food soon enough.

Lunch periods: Students may have a different lunch period depending on if it’s an A day or B day. Be sure to check with your 5th period teachers.

Another useful tip is to get involved in extracurricular activities. Joining clubs, sports teams, or other school organizations is a great way to make new friends and discover new interests. It also looks good on college applications.

Make sure to attend transition day. During transition day, building tours are done, pictures are taken, and students meet teachers.

Don’t hesitate to ask for help when needed. Whether it’s understanding a tough subject or just needing someone to talk to, teachers and counselors are there to support students. Seeking help early can prevent small problems from becoming bigger ones.
These simple tips can make a big difference in your high school experience. Good luck, and enjoy your time at GlenOak High!
