Girls XC dominating invitationals
October 18, 2016
By Ryan Benzing — The GlenOak girls’ cross country team is continuing to have an outstanding season, winning almost every invitational in which they compete.
These victories would not have been possible without many key runners, such as Grace Werren, Megan Wertz, Hannah Werren, Kinsey Knoch and Taylor Brightman.
“Those five girls are really setting themselves apart,” said head coach Scott Ferrell.
Many of the girls have already run lifetime bests, beating their fastest race times from previous years, and Ferrell hasn’t even started resting the team yet.
“The entire team is running really well,” Ferrell said. “I believe that every girl, at this point, has improved throughout the year and run a season best.”
The team is comprised of six freshmen, 13 sophomores, four juniors, and eight seniors, over half of whom have been in cross country since middle school.
The next meet will be the Federal League meet on Saturday, Oct. 16, at Green.
