There is a new mural being painted in the boy’s basketball locker room. A mix of seven AP Studio and Honors Art III students are painting the mural. The group was made up of seniors Iszy Ucker, Erykah Lofton, Lauren Barbato, Julia Clark and juniors Mekenzie Keogh, Hannah Gariepy, and Alaina Smith.

Head Varsity Basketball coach, Matt Hackenburg reached out to art teacher Jill Balderson and asked if they could paint a mural in their newly renovated locker room.

“The wall is approximately 10′ x 15′ and will have a 2D graphic Eagle wing and Basketball featured on the wall,” Balderson said.

“The locker room was new and there was just an empty white wall so the coach asked us to do the mural,” Smith said when asked why they are doing the mural.

“I have helped paint over the wing, we coated it in white before we started painting it, and I started the basketball,” Keogh said.

The group is currently on a break because they are waiting on more supplies, but once they have those supplies, they plan on painting the rest within two weeks.

The students meet after school on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30 until 3:30.
