Meeting the counselors

By: Laney Crowl

This year the school has made new changes to the counseling department. Most counselors have been moved to the upper C commons, but freshmen counselors remain in the lower D wing.  Two new counselors were also added this year, Taylor Bryant and Tim McKean.

McKean is no stranger to most students.

In the past 10 years, he has worked at Barr, Frazer, Glenwood and Middlebranch.

At these schools, he was in many different positions. At Barr, Frazer and Glenwood he was a counselor. McKean was Middlebranch’s Dean of Students at one point and he was even the director of Saturday Enrichment for three years.

“I am a freshman counselor last name L-Z. But obviously I can talk to anybody,” McKean said.

His office can be found in the D wing’s academy office.

A new counselor who may not be as familiar to students is Taylor Bryant.

Bryant takes care of 10-12 grade students with the last names Cu-H and can be found in C217.

She has always enjoyed helping people.

Aside from her many other high school activities such as orchestra, sports and acting she helped her fellow students.

She was a student ambassador in high school and helped transfer students to settle in and adjust.

She also enjoys spending her free time cooking, exploring cities, going to concerts, and attending festivals. As well as her all-time favorite pastime of going to the movies.

But at school, she is here to help us.

“I am very happy to be here at GlenOak and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey as a school counselor. Please know that my door is always open, whether you are a student of mine or not,” Bryant said.
