Each year, copious amounts of movies are being released via streaming services rather than traditional theatrical releases, especially on Disney Plus. Many blame this on the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Disney was already on-course to release many big-time movies and exclusive cinematic TV shows without the intention of giving them to theaters.

With tons of different movies and TV shows releasing so often, here is a guide on the biggest (and best) new movies and shows arriving to Disney Plus, which will be coming in the next few months(in order of release).

First big thing is the free release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,  releasing Nov. 12. The story follows the newest hero introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Shang-Chi, and the journey he must take to save the world from his own family. Many Marvel fans not wanting to go to movie theaters in the present day will be very excited and looking forward to this release.

On the same day, Jungle Cruise will be released for free on the streaming giant. For those who have been waiting to watch and avoid the steep prices to buy from Disney Plus early access, or movie theatre prices. This film is a treat for the family to enjoy during the holiday season.

Rounding off the big releases of November for Disney Plus is the exclusive new Marvel TV show, Hawkeye. The first two episodes of the latest instalment in the MCU start streaming on Nov. 24. Every week another episode will be released until all 8 episodes are out. Another day to look forward to for Marvel fans.

Along with the other Marvel content on the site, the new MCU movie The Eternals is also said to release on Disney Plus in December. The new movie follows the oldest heroes in the Marvel universe so far, The Eternals, and how they too will save humanity. Another movie to look forward to re-watch or wait and not pay steep movie theater fees.

To round off the year and get Star Wars fans excited, Disney is releasing the first episode in the latest Star Wars series, The Book of Boba Fett on Dec. 29. This new story follows the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett through his latest endeavours with a new crime agency. Set in the timeline of The Mandalorian, many Star Wars fans are very much looking forward to seeing the green Mandalorian armor back on the silver screen.

These are just the biggest new movies and TV shows releasing this year, but Disney fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming years, such as the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series coming to the streaming service some time in the future, as well as continuations of MCU shows like Loki or What If. Not to mention the other various Pixar or Disney movies that eventually come onto Disney Plus for free after so long in theaters.

It is safe to say Disney has a lot still under lock and key. New movies and TV shows are definitely in their pipeline. It’s unknown what will come next for the ever-expanding streaming giant, but a growing number of streamable movies and shows is for everyone’s benefit. We as viewers and fans cannot wait to see what comes next for the growing streaming giant, Disney Plus.
