Time for Teth: Black Adam is just ok

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars in new movie Black Adam, and makes quite a commotion in the superhero world.

In 2014, The Rock was cast as Black Adam, solely to keep DC movies relevant, and I feel like he did a good job. It’s kind of hard to do a bad job when the crew has been building this movie around you for almost 10 years, but it was still a great acting job from The Rock.

The Rock plays Black Adam who is woken up from a prison/deep slumber.  The Rock spends most of the movie running around killing people in an attempt to figure out how life works, which is pretty much what the Rock does in all of his movies.

The Rock is not really the main character of the movie, but he is the main draw of the movie and he did well in his role.

There was one scene in particular where he woke up in the house of Adrianna Tomaz(who is one of the main characters of the movie), and he was this big, strong, demi-god who was clueless of his surroundings, and I feel like he played that scene very well.

There were other big name actors in this movie like Adlis Hodge (Hawkman), Henry Cavill (Superman), and Sarah Shahi (Adrianna Tomaz). The acting from them was, as expected, exceptional. And even the other actors played their characters very well.

Everybody did a great job on this movie, but we all know that the main attraction of this movie is The Rock. The amount of publicity that he gave this movie is insane. Some people, me included, only went to this movie because of The Rock. DC movies even added a full Black Adam package to the game Fortnite for added publicity of the movie because The Rock is in it.

There is one very prominent problem with all this though. Many people would not go to this movie if The Rock wasn’t in it, which shows that this movie lacks depth and it was only relevant because of The Rock, but DC knew this going into the making of this movie.

There was also a lot of comedy in this movie to provide a light-hearted counterpart to the overall seriousness of the movie. There were two characters that were only there for comedic purposes, and those were Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Karim (Mohammed Amer), and overall they succeeded at their job. Those were just two characters, everybody had their funny moments, which I believe added a lot to the movie.

All together, there were some ups and downs in this movie, but it is still a good movie. Everybody did what they were supposed to with this movie, and it wasn’t a huge letdown like others in the DC Universe. I would give this movie a 6/10.  I would not recommend going to the movie theatres for it, but when it is streaming it is a must-watch.
