About: 

The Eagle is a student-run newspaper of GlenOak High School in Canton, Ohio. There are 35 students on staff who publish a traditional print news magazine three times a year and update daily  https://gohsonline.com/ an online news website.  The website will update daily starting in October.  The news staff is a credit course at GlenOak High School.

The opinions expressed on our platforms are solely the opinions of students and not the opinions of GlenOak High School, the Plain Local School District, its administration or its staff.

GlenOak is a part of the Ohio Scholastic Media Association https://osmaonline.com/.

Mission Statement:

The Eagle is a student-run news organization and aims to cover issues of interest to the student body of GlenOak High School. Staff members are required to ethically gather material and sources following journalistic standards.  The Eagle aims to provide interesting, informative and accurate information on issues, stories  and to function as an open forum of student expression over all of its platforms.  

Editorial Policies:

The Eagle website is published by and for the students at GlenOak High School, and operates as a forum for student expression and the free, open robust and uninhibited discussion of ideas and issues. Freedom of expression carries with it an obligation to the highest ideals of the journalistic profession. Published items may not contain libel or obscenity, create a material and substantial disruption of school activities, invade the privacy of individuals, incite violence or lawless behavior, violate the laws of copyright or violate community standards of appropriateness. Good taste will be reflected in all content. Opinions expressed in signed articles are those of the author only and do not represent the views of Plain Local Schools or GlenOak High School, its administration or its staff. Letters to the editors are encouraged. Any student or staff member wishing to submit a letter to the editors may turn in his or her letter in room C208, to Mrs. Spano’s mailbox or to any Eagle reporter. All letters to the editor must be signed and will be checked for facts.

AI Policy:

The use of AI is not permitted in our classroom or on our platforms. The Eagle values original student-created writing and student-created artwork, not AI works. The staff of the Eagle wants it to be as authentic as it can be. AI images or writing will only be used in examples of stories that AI is the subject of.
