On GlenOak’s 2026 men’s lacrosse team, there were a few memorable achievements made by a couple of outstanding players this year. These players put in the dedication and hard work to achieve these immensely hard goals.
The first achievement reached this year was senior Landon Phillips reaching 100 career points, as well as currently holding the most career points in team history with 164. Phillips also broke the record for most assists in a career with 54. He also has the most ground balls in career history with 251. Finally, recording the most points as a senior with 76.
When reaching 100 career points, Phillips reflected on his first point in his freshman year.
“My first career point was freshman year against Chardon with a beautiful pass for an easy finish on the crease,” Phillips said.
Despite achieving 100 points, there are other goals Phillips wants to achieve after reaching this goal.
“My goal is to keep the record for most career points for the rest of the season,” Phillips said.
This goal is set because there is a fellow team member who is following right behind him in career goals scored.
Yet, with this goal hopefully being accomplished by the time Phillips finishes his senior season, he wants to be remembered in a certain way.
“I would like to be remembered as one of the lead players that helped change the culture of GlenOak lacrosse,” Phillips said.
Phillips helped the team reach many goals, as well as trying to make the team feel more like a family. So finally, he wants to leave some advice to the younger classmen.
“When I was a freshman, I definitely did not think that I would reach this milestone, just because when you’re at that stage, it seems like something so crazy, but if you don’t stop working, and are coachable, you can accomplish it too,” Phillips said.
Hoping to also achieve the most in a career is junior Kyler Tuersley. Tuersley hit 100 career points following Phillips with 132. As well as holding the most points as a junior with 78. Hitting this achievement, Tuersley also remembers his first-ever career goal.
“My first ever point was an assist to someone who graduated in the past,” Tuersley said.
Tuersley was not nervous at all when it came to his first career point, but when it came to his 100th career point, he was.
“I was very nervous. I didn’t want to make a bad pass, I didn’t want to miss the shot, or the goalie save it,” Tuersley said.
Even though he was nervous during his achievement, he still has goals he wants to achieve in his time still here on the team.
“My next goal is to be the all-time points leader and to have the most points scored in a year,” Tuersley said.
Tuersley is quickly following behind Phillips in career points, trying to surpass Phillips. Tuersley accomplished his second goal of trying to have the most points scored in a year, this season with 55, through his dedication.
With all these accomplishments Tuersley has accomplished, he also wants to be remembered in a certain way.
“I want to be remembered as someone who was not selfish and had a high (lacrosse) IQ,” Tuersley said.
He also wants to be remembered as the player who had the important plays and knew what to do in a crisis play, as well as the player who would share the ball and make sure the whole team had a fair chance.
As well as Phillips, Tuersley would like to leave some advice to the younger classmen.
“Put your head down and grind, anything is possible if you believe you can do it,” Tuersley said.
So Phillips and Tuersley’s team did outstanding this season with a record of 15-4.
Both Phillips and Tuersley achieved these goals, so just know if you put in the same work and effort they did you can reach the same goals.
Tonight, Friday, May 22, the boys will take on Hudson at Hudson. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
