With the new Call of Duty Black Ops 7 released on Nov. 14, millions of people were excited and 200,000 pre-ordered. However, the hype was not worth it. Many celebrities who played it early on actually did not like it and were disappointed in the new game.
Gamers have been waiting for a good game for a while now. This game did not live up to most of the expectations. It has lost a lot of popularity and there has not been a good Call of Duty since the COVID-19 pandemic.
A big problem people are seeing is the price of the game. Every game is sold at $60 but now it's $70 with add ons. This is a problem to gamers because the in game purchases are getting expensive and everyone is seeing it as a money grab.
Prices in the game have gone up. A couple years ago before the micro-transactions, which are small purchases you can make, took over the game, they were $5 and everyone loved it. But since they are collaborating with other media, and they are putting the media in the game at crazy prices, people have to buy them if they want skins because that's the only thing getting sold in the game.
The maps are a huge deal to everyone who touches the game. If they are boring and repetitive, then people will lose interest and stop playing. That was the cause for the past two games. Players want medium to large maps with a lot of detail. They've been getting small maps with a lot of players, which lead to a lot of respawning and not a lot of running around and having fun. Small maps mean everyone is playing fast and you can not take time and do things you need to do.
When the maps are medium to large sizes. It's fun and challenging when you see people because it takes skill to stop them at a larger distance. Black Ops 3 had a lot of these medium to large size maps which lead it to be one of if not the best Call of Duty to be released. The maps let players run around and breathe instead of turning the corner and instantly dying. Unfortunately, Black Ops 7 has a lot of small maps and no medium maps.
Players were hoping this new Call of Duty had weapons from older games and were excited when the makers said they were going to add older weapons but the developers lied. They added a remake of old guns that are unbalanced. Weapons play a big part in the game since people use guns to unlock camos to show your dedication to the game . You have to use all the weapons to complete it so when all the guns are almost identical it gets repetitive again and you feel like you're using the same ones every time.
Not only that, but they are all unbalanced with a weird rate of fire which means if you are not using the best five you are losing every gun fight unless you catch them off guard.
Players are stuck in the past but it's reasonable the games back then were made for the players not the sponsors. Nobody should be spending $70 on the new Black Ops 7. My recommendation would be to buy Battlefield 6.
