Being home for spring break is not fun for anybody. There are many ways to cure boredom, including watching movies.
However, some movies can be terrible, so here are some fun movies to watch when someone is stuck inside their house, especially on a rainy spring day.
The SpongeBob Movie
First, the SpongeBob Movie. Produced by Steph Hillenburg and starring Tom Kenny, the movie even includes Ice Spice. It’s a fun movie for all ages to enjoy, not just kids and can be streamed on Paramount+.
If you enjoy fun cartoons but don’t like cartoons that are totally meant for kids, this movie is for you. It includes many jokes.
SpongeBob wants to be a “big guy” but he was scared of roller coasters. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob about a certificate that only “big guys” can have, so SpongeBob decides to try and prove his worth to Mr. Krabs on how he can be a big guy. SpongeBob gets help from the Flying Dutchmen; however, it wasn’t all rainbows. The Flying Dutchman takes him to the underworld, promising him a certificate only to betray SpongeBob.
It’s not as corny as it seems. It’s truly a story of tragic portrayal. I personally would give this movie about a 6/10 only because there are some flaws with it. Sometimes I felt like the voice acting was a little off, and it doesn’t give that nostalgic vibe of the old Spongebob cartoons.
Other than that, this movie is great for families to enjoy when dealing with a wet spring break day.
Iron Lung
The Iron Lung is directed and starred by Mark Fischbach, also known as the famous YouTuber Markiplier. Iron Lung is a great movie to watch when March is going out like a lion instead of a lamb. The movie is based on the popular video game Iron Lung.
Iron Lung takes place after a quiet rapture, where it erased most of the stars and planets. The main character, Simon, is a criminal who was on death row. Simon was offered a mission in exchange for his freedom. The crime he committed was left unknown.
Iron Lung has a famous quote going around “I just want to live. Is that so wrong? Why doesn’t anybody else want that?” The quote shows the survival instinct, fear and frustration Simon is feeling.
I really enjoyed this movie. I give it an 8/10. The acting can be a little off, but it’s a great movie if you enjoy slow burns.
Fnaf 2
Finally Fnaf 2, directed by Emma Tammi and starring Josh Hutcherson, Fnaf 2 is a great movie to watch when there nothing else to do.
Fnaf 2 is based off the game “Five Nights at Freddys.” It takes place after the first movie, where they beat Willian Afton (he always comes back), but now they have to deal with the toy and withered animatronics, mainly Puppet.
In the games, Puppet, also known as Charlotte, was the daughter of Henry, who is Williams’s co-worker and best friend. They decided to build the first pizzeria together and Charlotte(aka Puppet) was killed by William.
William and Henry were close friends; however, William became a little weird. He had an unhealthy obsession with Henry. During this unhealthy obsession, children started going missing, so Henry made a Puppet to protect Charlotte.
One rainy day, Charlotte got locked out of the pizzeria, and Puppet was unable to get to her in time. William ended up killing Charlotte, and Charlotte’s soul took over Puppet. Throughout the movie the Puppet (Charlotte) kept possessing people. The movie ends with the Puppet possessing one of the main characters.
I give this movie a 7/10. I felt like it could do better; however, this movie is really good for fans to watch. These movies were not made for people who don’t play the game and follow the FNAF lore as it could be confusing to follow. If you’re not familiar with the lore, you can watch it on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.
