As the postseason arrived, the GlenOak Swim Team swam in the Federal League Swim Meet on Jan. 20, and in Sectionals on Feb. 14.
At the Federal League Meet, the girls team had some top-tier performances starting with junior Kenadi Medina swimming the 50-freestyle coming in second overall. Junior Rowan Holliday swam the 100-fly and she came in second in the final heat. Rylie Calvert swam the 100-freestyle and battled to come in third in the league. To top it all off, the girls 200 freestyle relay team came in first place.
The boys team also had some fantastic performances starting with freshman Ryker Lewis being second in the 100-backstroke and sophomore Enzo Drunasky battling to come in fifth in the 100-backstroke as well. The boys relays had dominating times throughout the meet. The boys 200-medley relay battled to come in second place and the boys 400-relay came in third overall.
The boys team finished in third place in the Federal League, and our girls team finished in fourth place in the Federal League.
At sectionals, both teams had an outstanding performance. The meet started with the girls medley taking seventh place with a time of 2:04.81 and the boys medley taking second place with a time of 1:41.23.
The girls had many great individual events with Medina swimming the 50-freestyle taking 6th place with a time of 25.19. Calvert swam the 200-freestyle, coming in eighth place with a time of 2:07.37. Studer had a tough lineup swimming in all of the girls relays and the 50 freestyle, but accomplished great times in all of them. Holliday placed third in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:00.43. All of these performances qualified to move on to Districts.
Our boys team also had many impressive individual performances as well. The boys 200 medley relay came in second overall, getting a time of 1:41.23. Senior Noah Fitzsimmons swam the 50-freestyle with a time of 22.72, coming in fifth. Fitzsimmons also swam the 100-freestyle with the time of 50.13, placing fifth. Senior Kyle Snedeker swam the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.8,1 also coming in fifth.
The boys team swam in the 200-freestyle medley relay with a time of 1:33.07 and placed fifth overall. Lewis swam the 100-yard backstroke, completing with a time of 59.41 and placed fifth overall. Cannan Summers swam the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.68 and got sixth overall and Casey Harbor also swam the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.48 and got seventh overall. And finally, the boys 400-yard freestyle placed fifth overall with the time of 3:36.36.
All of the relays and individuals mentioned above have qualified for districts on Saturday, Feb 21. Please help and cheer on our Golden Eagles at Cleveland State starting at 12 p.m.
