It is not uncommon for students to be overwhelmed by the amount of work every class combined gives in the form of homework, assignments, projects and studying.
A surplus of work from classes can get out of hand quickly, and lead to long periods of stress and anxiety as you rush to complete your work on time and do it well.
To prevent excessive stress over the amount of combined work, here are some things you can do to properly juggle all the work and lower the amount of stress that occurs when doing it.
The first thing you can do to navigate struggles is to do your most important assignments first. Sort your assignments in order of how soon you need it done, and work your way up from there. You can sort assignments by due dates, as well as what class you have first.
This way you can do work in a more efficient way, focusing on the more urgent assignments rather than having to stress about assignments that are not due the next day or within a few days.
If there is still too much work for one day, start by working on the easiest assignment due the soonest, and work your way to the hardest ones.
This will make you less overwhelmed and boost your efficiency while working on those assignments and lower your anxiety and stress.
If you still can not do or figure out one assignment, try taking a break or skipping the assignment that is making you feel overwhelmed, and come back later when you are less stressed or have figured out a plan for how you are going to tackle the homework or assignment.
If you absolutely do not understand an assignment, try asking a parent or a guardian for help and they can give you advice and help you get over the part of the assignment that is holding you back from completing it.
Another option is reaching out for help from a teacher. They can help you understand something on the problem that you missed, or assign a tutor to help you do a part of the homework or assignment that you do not understand. At Glenoak, teachers are available Tuesdays and Thursdays after school so make sure to make an appointment with them during these times.
With a tutor or teacher assistance, you do not have to worry about not completing the assignment due to not having the knowledge to complete it.
Organizing your work the right way, planning ahead, and knowing where and who to go when you do not know something or are struggling with an assignment is the best way to juggle multiple assignments at once, while lowering stress and anxiety.
