Every year in Ohio, students take a test to evaluate how much they learned in a specific subject and what they have to improve on.
This evaluation is called Ohio State Testing, or OSTs, and it is the way the state of Ohio can use to evaluate how educated their students are, and how they can improve.
The OSTs test students on everything they know from that year, and in the past, so it is not uncommon to be nervous about the test.
In order to help soothe some worry, here are some tips on how to prepare for the OST’s.
Most teachers, about a month before OSTs begin doing things to help students review for them like Waygrounds to review questions that could be on the OST’s, crosswords for one worded answers or review packets for everything important for that one class.
Before a big OST, always make sure to review everything given to you for that subject so you can be prepared for whatever the OST may send your way.
For example, in math classes the teachers give you an OST formula sheet that you are allowed to use on the OST in which you can use to review what you could see when you are testing.
Teachers want you to do well on the OST’s and give you the resources to do so, you just have to do what they give you and have an open mind.
Another important thing is not to let yourself get overwhelmed before the OST’s and panic, as long as you do your best and give it your all, that is all that matters. Getting overwhelmed just increases the chances that you will not focus to the best you can, doing worse on the OST than you are capable of.
In the end, as long as you study properly, use the right resources to prepare and do your best, that’s all you need to prepare in order to do well on the OST’s.
